Need I go on?
Never knew I had it in me to be so diplomatic.
Just bit my tongue through a whole meeting with my students’ Auntie and Grandmother (his carers) and Principal because they took issue with the way I asked her not to sit in my classroom when I am not around, and without bringing their child to me when he arrived.
I did not once mention the fact that she was doing the wrong thing. Nor the way I was verbally abused and my personal and professional integrity attacked. (This being when I attempted to make an apology, citing that it was never my intention to offend her in the first place.) Luckily, my principal was completely amazing and supports me completely. It was like watching magic the way she was able to mediate and calm, even though they didn’t want to let it go.
I don’t know whether I’m ashamed of myself for the sucking up I was forced to do, or proud of how I held it together and kept it professional.
Well, I know it’s the latter. I value my job so much and this continues to prove that I am good at it. But I can help but feel a lot of resentment at these people, and the sad state of affairs in which I just have to accept that putting up with this is just part of my job.
Just some light reading. :P
*Sigh* Parental abuse
Just part of the job, right?
Brush it off, brush it off…
I have this exchange with my students regularly. :P
Sometimes I forget I'm the teacher.
Student: I don't like idioms.
Me: Your face is an idiom.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. : P
